Michelle KaravasPRINCIPAL PSYCHOLOGIST / AUTHORMichelle is the Principal Psychologist at MK Psychology. Michelle has full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). Michelle has a background working for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in which she has worked in both Primary and Secondary school settings for many years. She has also had experience in private practice working with children, adolescents and adults. Previous to this she has also worked in juvenile justice with young offenders and has experience running young women's groups for community based organisations. Michelle has experience working with clients who present with Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Loss, Stress, School related issues, Autism, Anger, Parenting strategies and Behaviour Management. Michelle also has a range of experience conducting Cognitive and Educational assessments for children and adolescents. Michelle has also written and self-published a children's book titled 'The Day My Brain Went Crazy'. This picture book is aimed for children aged between 5-10 years of age who find it difficult managing their anger. It also has a great tip sheet for parents at the back of the book too. Michelle is a mother to two teenage boys and enjoys sport. Michelle was a netball player and has a love for watching AFL football, barracking for the Essendon FC and enjoys watching basketball. Michelle often spends her weekends watching her own boys play sport which has lead her to have an interest in Sports Psychology and Sports Nutrition. Michelle has also completed a certificate in Kids Yoga Teacher Training. Michelle is also a Trained Tackle Your Feelings Accredited Facilitator. Tackle Your Feelings is a training program designed for local footy clubs supported by AFL coaches association and AFL players. It strives to improve understanding and awareness of mental health as well as build skills within coaches to have conversations about mental health with their players.
